Beyoncé has proved her power yet again, but super-charging her effort to help educate more students. After a powerful Coachella performance laden with black heritage and history, Beyoncé announced a scholarship programme for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Through the BeyGOOD Initiative, the philanthropic musician pledged $100,000 in scholarship money for its Homecoming Scholars Award Program. Divided equally between Bethune-Cookman University, Tuskegee University, Wilberforce University, and Xavier University of Louisiana, four students will benefit for the 2018/19 academic year.
Now it seems some students going to HBCUs are going to get another boost, this time through internet giant Google, which has promised to match Beyoncé's pledge dollar by dollar. As a result, four more students attending HBCUs will receive grants of $25,000 each.

Four additional colleges have been added to the programme, Fisk University, Grambling State University, Texas Southern University, and Morehouse College.
In a statement, Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Relations at Parkwood Entertainment, which houses BeyGOOD, welcomed Google's involvement
"Partnering with organizations like Google.org in support of HBCUs is our way of elevating cultural touchstones that paint a clear picture of excellence and opportunity through diverse education," McGregor said.
"We challenge other businesses across the country to join us in this commitment to higher education and investment in the future."
