Cardi B's has had a meteoric rise. From shooting to fame on 'Love & Hip Hop New York' after her music and unfiltered social media funny brought her to people's attention, to dropping arguably the track of the year in 2017 with the Grammy-nominated 'Bodak Yellow', the Bronx native has made a major impact in the world of entertainment.
After months of rumors, the fiercely flowing rapper confirmed that she was expecting a baby with Offset, one third of Migos, during a performance on 'Saturday Night Live' this past weekend.
Cardi confirmed the rumors just days after dropping her debut album, the appropriately-named 'Invasion of Privacy'. The record has received rave reviews and went gold within 24 hours of its release. 'Bartier Cardi' recently went platinum, marking her fouth platinum single after 'Bodak Yellow', and two features, on Bruno Mars' 'Finesse Remix' and 'No Limit' with G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky.
However, despite her achievements, the age-old debate of family versus career has popped up on social media.
Having already faced a lot of criticism for going back to Offset after he allegedly cheated on her multiple times, Cardi B is now being criticised for the timing of her pregnancy.
I just want to be successful that’s all!

Fresh from a string of top 20 singles, an SNL performance, and the acclaimed 'Invasion of Privacy', Cardi B's career seems to be on a roll. Some people think a pregnancy could scupper her progress.
I’m SO disappointed that Cardi B is pregnant. Her career is at such a defining point, she’s got the industry eating out the palm of her hand. I’m not saying women can’t do both I just wish she delayed it a few years.

I’m disappointed @iamcardib pregnant because she said she would focus on her career sooo many times. She put emphasis on NOT wanting a baby right now. It’s very hard NOT to believe he put this on her on purpose and she was so blind to see the real

Cardi B dumb why the fuck would you get pregnant in the prime of your career 😑🤦🏽♂️....

The time-old debate about whether women can truly 'have it all' , a family and a successful career is playing out in real-time over social media.
Some people are sick of the debate.
Cardi B waited until she was a multimillionaire. She waited until she was engaged to be married. She waited until she broke records in her career. All before she decided to become a mom. And even after all that, people still saying "she should've waited". Women can't win.

Finally someone making sense about Cardi B’s pregnancy. All the commentary around her has been so narrow and stifling.

How many of our mothers had successful careers whilst raising children?! https://t.co/06qLhjZ6kE
It's a bit surprising that people are still having this argument. Beyoncé has done it! So many women manage to juggle family and career in the modern age.
We think Cardi is more than capable. Keep on making those money moves!
Do you think people should stop asking women if it's really the 'right time' to have a child? Will Cardi B keep going from strength to strength?
