GRASS-FIELDS PRESENTS AFRICAN PRINT

The African Queen Transformations

Grass-fields would like to introduce you to Andrea Silva. Andrea is a blogger with her own website named Brasilnality and a large following on social media. Andrea celebrates her plus-size beauty to the max! She opens up about her life and shares her happiest moments. Before Andrea's transformation from inspiring Andrea to Andrea the African Queen we managed to get to know her a little bit better.

What made you become a fashion/beauty blogger?

'Fashion was always a passion of mine growing up and finally I decided to become a fashion blogger because I want to share my fashion journey as a curvy woman as a lot of people are struggling to find clothes that flatter their bodies. I love to inspire people and show them a curvy girl's life in a world full of size zero clothing stores.'

Do you wear African print daily?

'I don’t wear African print daily. I mainly wear African print to special occasions as it is quite colorful and to me these special pieces that need a special occasion.'

How do you feel about African prints?

'African print makes me feel happy, confident and powerful.'

What culture do you identify yourself as?

'As a Brazilian woman with African roots I grew up in Germany and I was never really able to identify myself with the German culture even though my parents are German. I am adopted and missed out on embracing my Brazilian and African culture, which I learned more when I moved to the UK. I’d say I can identify myself much more with Brazilian/ African culture than German or UK culture.'

Where do you get your confidence from as a plus-sized woman?

'I simply love myself and accept myself as the person I am. Self-love plays a huge part in confidence.'

What is your greatest achievement?

'My greatest achievement is that I just started my own social media agency and I’m super happy about it! I have worked very hard.'

What is your greatest failure?

'I don’t really see a failure as a failure, if something didn’t work out, then it wasn’t meant to be and I’ll try something else.'

Was there ever a time that you felt unattractive?

'I think we as women all have a moment from time to time where we feel unattractive for whatever reason, maybe the jeans you really wanted didn’t fit, your hair isn’t done the way you want it to be or you just feel off. I go through these times just like everyone else does but the good thing is, the feeling doesn’t stay.'

What is your biggest worry when wearing bright colours?

'My only worry I have wearing bright colours is the season and the occasion. I love bright colours in summer but in autumn/winter it is more about the occasion as I like to wear autumnal colours.'

What was your happiest fashion memory growing up?

“When I was about 5 I had a light pink fur jacket I loved this jacket to death and felt like a princess.”

What makes you get up in the morning?

'Ambition to achieve my goals, inspire my followers and travel the world. The small things!'
