A Huge Celebration Of African Fashion Is Coming to Morocco

It probably comes as no surprise that we're huge fans of African fashion here at Grass-fields. This week, a major celebration of Africa's fashion industry is coming to Casablanca, Morocco.

The inaugural 'African Fashion Talents' event will be held in the Atlantic city from May 3-6. Created by Moroccan fashion fanatics Nawal Debouzze and Zainab El Kadiri, the event will feature designers from across the great continent, including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia, to name a few.

The event will kick off on the 3rd with an event at the Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche, which will play host to many 'African Fashion Talent' events.

Leading the fashion show's jury is Alphadi, Nigerian fashion designer and UNESCO Artist for Peace. The jury will also feature Moroccan stylist Hisham Oumlil, and Miss France 2014 Flora Coquerel.

Le soleil est enfin de sortie, les couleurs aussi 💥💕

It's more than a fashion show, and discussions and panels will be held across the four days to talk about boosting 'Made in Africa' products and the future of the fashion world on the continent.

Representatives from the Africa Development Bank, the World Bank, and Mali's Minister for Cuture will chair discussions about how to ensure that young designers can become financially independent.

That's what we like to see! Shout out to the next generation of African fashion moving the industry forward!
