African print of the day with Christelle: Layering on trend

Let me show you how I layer my contemporary African print outfits!

The African Print Lola Midi Dress.

Although this gorgeous pink dress is probably classed as more summery than Autumnal, today I have paired it with a white shirt from TM Lewin and bag from Zara and I am really pleased with the finished look.

Shirts under dresses is a 90’s trend that has been back in fashion for a couple of years now. Last summer, gurl.com and Stylecaster.com were among the many fashion blogs out offering tips on the best way to wear a shirt under a dress and you only need to visit Pinterest, Instagram or Google to discover that #shirtunderdress is a popular hashtag.

I do not care too much about trends. I care more about what I like and think is right for me. If African print is a trend I, for one, am delighted that it is a trend that is sticking around. In Autumn months I never have to put my favorite African prints away! I have always loved experimenting and seeing how I can incorporate African print in all my outfits. It's great! I get to continuingly wearing some of my favorite African print styles whilst keeping warm!

You can layer African print dresses with anything from t-shirts, to tailored shirts to polo neck sweaters. Just go with whatever colors look right with your chosen African print dress and make sure your colors are complementary to your skin tone.

It’s actually not too chilly today so I’ve kept my legs bare. If you’re going to do this though, remember to rock it even if your cold! Really cold! Ha!

Oh, look at me, I sound like a real fashion stylist! To be honest I am not stylist, I just give my advice on how I style my outfits and what inspires me.

I hope you all loved my African print outfit today. Please let me know what you think and comment below.

Love Christelle xxx

I love that you’re doing this, there are lots that I think I don’t care for but when I see it styled differently I love it!
