African Print of the Day with Christelle: Be proud of who you are

African Print of the Day with Christelle: Be proud of who you are

If there's one thing I love more than the new Black Panther movie, its the amazing colours that were seen at the premier!

African prints don't find their way into Hollywood too regularly, so it's great when one star breaks the trend and shows up in color. But for the premier of 'Black Panther' the runway was full of incredible African style, color and print!

From Omoni Obol, Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong, to Michaela Coel and Janeshia Adams-Ginyard (did you see her outfit?!), I was so gripped and so proud of my heritage and everything that comes with it.

I have to step away from Wakanda, and come back to reality - success waits for no (wo)man! But the one thing I will bring with me, is the reminder to embrace your heritage, be proud of who you are, and push for more than what you believe you can achieve - success comes to those who earn it.

I decided to bring African color to the streets today, by wearing the Kente dress. I love love love the length, colour and half sleeves - the sun may be shining, but Spring certainly isn't quite here yet!

Movies like Black Panther remind me of how far we've come as a culture, and how perseverance and positivity make all the difference to a person. We didn't always have a great team at Grass-Fields; it wasn't that long ago that we were only dreaming about success! But we had to push all doubts to one side, and Michele and I continued to pioneer for a brighter, more colorful fashion on the streets of England. It was the support of each other, the self-worth and the encouragement of family and friends that made our dreams the reality that you see today.

I think we lost our way a little bit at one point though. We focused on the business and its development, but began to become detached from the people that matter most to us. We pride ourselves on being relateable, and that includes relating to you. We realised that life isn't about purely focusing on finances and the past - its important and an integral part of life, but the key to success is to focus on what you are most proud of, strive for better and push through your barriers to the future!

I've always said it's our imperfections that make us who we are - now, I'll say; its pride and passion that makes us who we were born to be.

Let me know what makes you proud of yourself - you know I love to hear from you!

Look to the future, be proud of you, and reach for the stars.
