'Wild Thoughts' Wasn't Nominated For A Grammy But It's Not All Bad

'Wild Thoughts' Wasn't Nominated For A Grammy But It's Not All Bad

Unless you lived under a rock last summer, you couldn't escape the catchy Santana-inspired electric guitar solo of 'Wild Thoughts' wafting out from every car stereo, every store sound system, and every radio station. 'Wild Thoughts', the DJ Khaled smash with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller ruled the airwaves and reigned high in the charts.

Released in June, the undeniable hit more than earned the moniker of 'Song of The Summer', reaching number one in the UK charts, number 2 on the US Billboard 100, and entering top fives all over the world.

Filmed in the Miami neighbourhood of Little Haiti, DJ Khaled, Rihanna, and Bryson Tiller channelled serious Latin and Caribbean vibes in a wild explosion of color. Rihanna obviously slayed, as usual.

Here she is having a hell of a time partying it up

Just one more, this time DJ Khaled and Rihanna tearing it up with some perfectly synchronised dancers

We would have shown one with Bryson Tiller, but he basically just sits in a room by himself for the whole video.

But despite this iconic video and catchy as hell song, 'Wild Thoughts' was not nominated in any Grammy categories this year. Outrageous!

Well, it's not all bad. The trio are going to perform their hit at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards next sunday, on January 28th, and if the video is anything to go by, it's going to be an incredible performance.

Some incredible artists have been nominated for awards at this years Grammys, and here are some of our favourites:

Best new artist: Khalid

A post shared by Khalid (خالد) (@thegr8khalid) on

This 19 year-old hit the ground running last year, selling out his first ever tour, and seeing his debit album 'American Teen' go platinum. He's already one of our ones to watch this year. As well as being nominated for Best New Artist, Khalid has a string of other nominations, including both Song of the Year and Best Music Video for 1-800-273-8255 with Logic and Alessia Cara, Best R&B Song for 'Location', and Best Urban Contemporary Album for 'American Teen'. We think he's going to take home at least one of them!

Best Rap Song: 'Bodak Yellow' by Cardi B

Whatever you think of Cardi B's private life, there's no denying that she has made her mark on music. The 'Love and Hip Hop New York' star's 'Bodak Yellow' stormed to the top of the Billboard 100 last summer. If 'Wild Thoughts' was Song of the Summer, Cardi's effort came a close second!

She became the first solo female rapper to his number one in the US since 1998, and is back with a vengeance with her Bruno Mars collab 'Finesse'. No-one can deny the stunning (albeit somewhat problematic) visuals for the Dubai-filmed 'Bodak Yellow'.

'Bodak Yellow' is nominated for both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Let's see if Cardi, real name Belcalis Almanzar, wins big next Sunday.

Best R&B Performance: 'Get You' by Daniel Caesar featuring Kali Uchis

With its hypnotic beat paired with Daniel Caesar's mesmerising voice, it's not surprising that 'Get You' has been nominated for 'Best R&B Performance'. It deserves it. This perfect feature just edges out the competition - sorry Kehlani and SZA, it was a tough choice! Daniel's dulcet tones have also got him nominated for 'Best R&B Album' for his LP 'Freudian'.
