Rihanna Helped Raise Over $2bn For World Education
Singer. Actress. Make-up mogul. Is there anything Rihanna can't do? In her role as an advocate for education, the Bajan beauty has managed to help raise billions to help advance learning for underprivileged children around the world.
Through her charity the Clara Lionel Foundation which she has run since 2012, Rihanna has worked with the Global Partnership for Education as an ambassador, and has been a keen supporter of expanding literacy across the world.
Taking to the stage in Dakar, Senegal, at the Global Partnership for Education's Financing Conference, Rihanna slipped into her ambassador role, and delivered a speech praising the progress made so far. She promised "This is a fight that we are never going to stop fighting until every boy and every girl has access to education."
The conference was jointly hosted by Macky Sall, the president of Senegal and Emmanuel Macron, the French president.
Rihanna has kept tabs on the progress, reminding world leaders of their funding commitments over Twitter.
