Mary J. Blige has made history being the first person to be nominated for Academy Awards both for acting and singing in the same year. The talented actress has earned Oscar nominations for 'Best Supporting Actress' for her role in 'Mudbound' and 'Best Original Song' for the soundtrack song 'Mighty River'.
She's performing at the ceremony
Fresh from being nominated for two Oscars, Mary J. Blige will grace the stage to perform 'Mighty River', the song for which she was nominated. The other singers nominated for their songs - her rivals - will also perform at the March 4th ceremony.

She's starring in a Netflix show
After playing a poverty-stricken farmer's wife in the Oscar-nominated 'Mudbound', Mary J's next role sees her do a complete 180. Boss-ass Blige has been tapped to star in 'The Umbrella Academy', an upcoming Netflix series based on a graphic novel. Mary will star as Cha-Cha, a time-traveling assassin, which is set to raise many interesting questions about time travel and how it could affect the present.
